Sustainability
Sustainability has always been at our core. Offering 100% natural products we have always wanted to make sure we are doing our bit for the environment.
Here are some of the ways that we are making our broth manufacturing business more sustainable.
- We will only use bones that are going to landfill. We will never buy bones farmed for the purpose of broths and stocks.
- We reduce our waste by reselling our tallow. Tallow is derived from the broth production process when there is a separation of fat on top of the broth jelly.
- We pressure cook instead of slow cooking. Pressure cooking is much faster and therefore means our equipment is used over less time, resulting in less energy.
- We dry our broths instead of freezing. Freezing broths consumes a lot of energy. Our blast chillers are expensive to run, and the freezer storage uses power too. Since we switched to dehydrating, we no longer need dozens of freezers to run, as all our broth can be stored on the shelf. Switching to drying our broths has also reduced our packaging cost and shipping cost too. In fact, we have reduced our packaging needs by 30%. Drying our broths has also reduced our power consumption by 25%.
- We use recyclable packaging, meaning you can recycle our pouches in any local supermarket. Our kefir cans are fully recyclable at home, all you need to do is remove the label and pop the can in your recycling bin.
