Frequently Asked Questions
Is your bone broth a liquid broth?
No. Our bone broth is dehydrated, which means we slowly remove the water from our traditionally made bone broth, leaving behind a concentrated, shelf-stable powder.
This makes it easy to store and incredibly versatile. Simply add hot water to turn it back into a nourishing liquid broth, or sprinkle the powder directly over your dog's food as a tasty topper.
Is your bone broth safe for cats?
Yes. Our bone broths are suitable for both dogs and cats and are made using simple, natural ingredients.
Bone broth can be a tasty way to add extra moisture and variety to your cat's diet. Always allow rehydrated broth to cool before serving and introduce any new food gradually.
Can my elderly dog have your bone broth?
Yes. Our bone broth is suitable for dogs of all life stages, including senior dogs.
Rehydrating the broth can be particularly useful for older dogs because it adds moisture to their diet and can make meals more appealing and easier to eat. Older dogs with diagnosed health conditions should have dietary additions discussed with their vet, particularly where kidney function is compromised.
How do I rehydrate your bone broth back into a collagen jelly?
For a thicker, jelly-like consistency, mix 5g of dehydrated bone broth with 70ml of hot water and stir thoroughly until dissolved.
Place the prepared broth in the refrigerator at approximately 3°C for 24 hours. Once chilled, the naturally occurring collagen can give the broth its characteristic jelly-like consistency.
Is your bone broth suitable for dogs with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)?
Yes, our bone broth can be given to dogs with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), but we recommend introducing it gradually and feeding smaller amounts than our standard feeding guide.
Start with a small amount mixed into your dog's usual food or water and gradually increase if well tolerated. Rehydrated bone broth can also be a tasty way to encourage additional fluid intake.
As nutritional requirements vary between dogs and different stages of CKD, we recommend checking with your vet if your dog is following a prescribed renal diet or has specific dietary restrictions.
How often can I give my dog bone broth?
Our bone broth can be added to your dog's diet every day as a complementary feed.
Serve it rehydrated as a nourishing broth, pour it over your dog's usual food, or sprinkle the dehydrated powder directly onto meals. Always follow the feeding guide for your dog's size and remember that complementary foods should be fed alongside a complete and balanced diet.
